WEEK ONE- Daily Log: Tuesday, February 20, 2007

  • I found that today I got more familiar with my surroudings and the children in my two grade six classes. When I first arrived at my placement I went right to a computer and started one of my long term projects. I began to type up the charts that Mme. Mercer wants me to save on a floppy disk and later transfer to overhead paper. I probably typed around four charts and there looks to be a million more!
  • After typing, I joined Mme. Mercer in one of her classes and we continued the activity that the class has been working on for the past week. I walked around the classroom and assissted students that needed help with their work. I also see that I'm beginning to learn all of the kids' names. Already I see that I am going to love this placement and looking into the future, I can truly see myself being a teacher. I love being around kids, and they seem to be accepting me in the learning environment, which makes me feel as if I am a larger part in their learning experience.
  • During Mme's planning time I continued typing up her charts and saving them on my floppy disk. I worked from 11:55-2:55 once again today--three hours.
