WEEK FOUR- Daily Log: Tuesday, March 20, 2007

  • Today was a lot of fun because I saw that the pile of charts that had found a home in the corner of the french room had significantly decreased in size. I cheerfully grabbed a chart and proceeded to type it, even more determined to finish the now diminished pile of charts. Once I finish the charts I will move on to another long term project.
  • Today in class I took out the same four people from each class however this time they had to do another page in their book report booklet. This time they had to find three new words in their books, define them in english, and them write down the phrase in which they found the word. Some of them had trouble and I helped guide them so that they knew what they had to do. Some of the kids were a bit louder today and I had a bit of difficulty keeping them in order. I find that some of the students still take advantage of me and do not treat me with the same respect they show Mme. Mercer. However I know that as time goes on they will see that I am also a teacher figure. They are very nice to me however some treat me as a friend rather than an authority figure. I managed to keep order today and realize I have to be more stern so that they realize I mean business! On the other hand some students treat with utmost respect and this is seeming to rub off on some of the trouble makers, who are beginning to show me respect.
  • During planning time I typed up more charts and ended up doing two more. I worked from 11:55-2:55 today-three hours.
