WEEK FOURTEEN- Daily Log: Tuesday, May 29, 2007

- Today was a very busy day at my co-op placement, and I worked as hard as ever in order to complete everything. The first thing I did was to continue marking the grade six quizzes from one of the classes. The majority of the students did very well, and this made my job a lot easier. After I finished marking all of the quizzes, I proceeded to record them in Mme. Mercer's markbook. I recorded them in the reading section, and made sure I was doing it correctly.
- My next job was to place some "On y va" textbooks (seventy-three of them) into the french storage room, with the help of Brian. We had to shuffle some things around, but we managed to put them on one and a half shelves. There were supposed to be ninety textbooks, but they were nowhere to be found. We looked in all of the grade eight classrooms and the french storage room, but found no textbooks. Mme. Mercer said that we would have to hunt around for them.
- In class today, Mme. Mercer was teaching the class a new lesson and she used one of the charts that I had typed up earlier in the semester. It felt really good to have my chart up there, because it made all my hard work worth the trouble.
- My next job was to find six recipes from the french cookbook and make four photocopies of each recipe. Once I made the photocopies, I cut them out neatly. I then went back to the french storage room to find some colourful construction paper for each recipe. Each one would have their own colour. So I glued each recipe onto their paper, and set them aside for the students to translate in one of the next classes.
- Mme. Mercer then told me that I would be teaching a lesson tomorrow, and she gave me the sheet I would be doing with the classes. I found the answers, and reviewed what I would say. I am very comfortable with what I have to do.
- At the end of the day, Mme. Mercer and I went in search of some instruments that the grad ensemble singers will use. We found a box in one of the primary classes, and Mme. Mercer also found out what classes she needed to order more instruments for. I carried the box of instruments into the french room and found a safe place for it. I worked for three and a half hours today.
