WEEK TEN- Daily Log: Tuesday, May 1, 2007

- I really enjoyed working at my placement today because I did a variety of tasks that involved me walking around as well as working at a desk. The first task I was asked to complete today was to help the Yearbook Committee. They had been working on finishing up the little personal blurbs about each of the graduating students. The blurbs included their name, nickname, pet peeve, favourite quote and probable career, and will appear beside their graduation photo. My job was to help type up the rest of the blurbs in size ten arial font, on a 6 cm wide template. I then printed all of them out and left them on Mme. Mercer's desk.
- My next job was to go to the afternoon classes. The kids were presenting the skits that they had been preparing yesterday. Mme. Mercer then turned the tables when she said that they would now have to write their own french skit. Mme. Mercer allowed me to choose a group and bring them out into the hall where I could give them some one on one assistance with their skits. I took out Reanne, Maria, and Laura. I helped them decide the content of their skit, and some grammar.
- Once class had ceased, Mme. Mercer wanted me to do some photocopying for Ms. Dover, who has been really busy of late. St. Andrew has been very busy with the musical, and that has required most of the attention of the staff and students. Opening night for the musical is tonight, so everyone is on edge. So to help out, I photocopied about ten copies of one sheet, and seventy of the other. I then had to track down Mrs. Cioccio to ask her about some religious symbols.
- I was very busy today, and I got some news that disturbed me and most of the staff. A case of lice was found, and I am now very uneasy about the situation. I am keeping my hair up and trying not to contaminate myself. I hope that I don't get lice!!! Talk about a safety issue! I worked for three and a half hours today.
