WEEK EIGHT- Daily Log: Monday, April 16, 2007

  • Today was another day that I spent outside of the classroom. The first thing that I did was turn on the laminator so that it would heat up for me to use. While the laminator was heating up Mme. Mercer and I talked about the upcoming lessons and jobs for the rest of the week. Mme. Mercer always writes down her lesson plans in my co-op portfolio so that I can refer to them whenever I need to. Once the laminator heated up, Brian and I continued laminating the posters we had started last Friday. I was also asked to pick the twelve best posters that students have made over the years and laminate them for another french teacher. Once the laminating was done, we began to cut out the numerous sheets and then threw out the garbage.
  • My next job was to arrange and staple a bunch of french artwork on a bulletin board in the computer room. There were very many of these activities and it took many staples to get the job done. My next job was to go to the second afternoon class and help out the students. They were reading their books to the class today, and I was there to remind them to be quiet.
  • During planning time Brian and I took the two disks full of charts that I have spent the last three months typing out. We printed out all one hundred of them (more or less) and I sorted through them to make sure they were in order. And let me tell you how good it felt to have all of those charts printed and done with; it makes me feel like I have accomplished something big due to the effort I put into the project. Brian and I then sat down together to record marks for Mme. Mercer. We highlighted the people who had handed in certain activities and also recorded some oral and written marks in Mme. Mercer's markbook.
  • I worked for three hours today.
